A breathing app for physiotherapy home practice
For respiratory physios, breathing pattern work, and anyone whose home program includes breathing. Free for your patients for twelve months.
Where breathing shows up in your practice
- Breathing pattern disorders and dysfunctional breathing, where retraining is the intervention and daily repetition is the whole game.
- Home program adherence between sessions, which is where most breathing work quietly dies.
- Patients who need a slower, structured practice rather than another exercise sheet.
- Long COVID and post-viral caseloads where breathing retraining has become part of the picture.
What Remindful actually is
A daily breathing app. About five minutes a day.
Guided audio sessions, a breathing baseline measure, and progress tracking. Designed to make daily practice visible and repeatable, so patients arrive at their next appointment having actually done something.

What the evidence says
We would rather be straight with you than oversell this.
What the research shows
- Breathing practice has a real and growing evidence base.
- A 2023 meta-analysis pooled 12 randomised controlled trials and 785 adults and found breathwork significantly reduced self-reported stress. Anxiety across 20 trials and depressive symptoms across 18 trials moved the same way.
- A Stanford randomised controlled trial tested five minutes a day for a month. Breathwork beat mindfulness meditation on mood and lowered resting respiratory rate.
- On the airway side, a Cochrane review found myofunctional therapy probably reduces daytime sleepiness and may improve sleep quality in obstructive sleep apnoea.
What the field is still figuring out
- This is a young, fast-moving field with serious research money starting to flow into it.
- The open questions are how long the effects hold, what changes with sustained practice, and how consumer apps compare with specific facilitated programs.
What is already established is enough to make daily breathing practice a sensible, low-cost complement to the work you are already doing. Remindful is a practice tool, not a treatment.
