A breathing app partnership for GPs
Free for your patients for twelve months. No cost to your practice, no commission, and we never ask you for patient details.
Where breathing shows up in your practice
- Patients presenting with stress, tension and poor sleep, where you would rather start with something behavioural than a script.
- Patients who ask for a non-drug option and then need somewhere concrete to go.
- Social prescribing, which the RACGP has been actively pushing, and which needs practical things to prescribe.
- Patients who have already been told to "try some breathing exercises" and have no idea what that means in practice.
What Remindful actually is
A daily breathing app. About five minutes a day.
Patients get guided sessions with audio, a simple breathing baseline measure so they can see where they are starting from, and progress tracking that makes the habit visible. It is designed for daily repetition rather than a one-off exercise, because that is where breathing practice does anything at all.

What the evidence says
We would rather be straight with you than oversell this.
What the research shows
- Breathing practice has a real and growing evidence base.
- A 2023 meta-analysis pooled 12 randomised controlled trials and 785 adults and found breathwork significantly reduced self-reported stress. Anxiety across 20 trials and depressive symptoms across 18 trials moved the same way.
- A Stanford randomised controlled trial tested five minutes a day for a month. Breathwork beat mindfulness meditation on mood and lowered resting respiratory rate.
- On the airway side, a Cochrane review found myofunctional therapy probably reduces daytime sleepiness and may improve sleep quality in obstructive sleep apnoea.
What the field is still figuring out
- This is a young, fast-moving field with serious research money starting to flow into it.
- The open questions are how long the effects hold, what changes with sustained practice, and how consumer apps compare with specific facilitated programs.
What is already established is enough to make daily breathing practice a sensible, low-cost complement to the work you are already doing. We are not claiming Remindful treats or manages any condition.
The longer versionHow the referral works
We send you a free clinic code, cards and a QR code.
Nothing to install, nothing to set up.
You hand a patient a card during a normal consult.
Ten seconds, no extra admin, nothing to add to their file.
The patient scans and enrols themselves.
Free for twelve months from their signup. No card details required, no auto-charge at the end.
What you get
- Free access codes for every patient you refer
- Printed cards and a QR code for your rooms
- An optional information pack for the waiting room
- An optional free education session for your practice, if that is useful
What we do not do
- We never ask you for patient details or any patient health information. Patients enrol themselves.
- We make no claim to diagnose, treat or manage any medical condition.
- We pay no commission or referral fee to practitioners, deliberately. We would rather have no conflict of interest than a disclosed one.
- There is no cost to your practice or to your patients during the pilot.
Who is behind this
Remindful is run by Daniel Augustine, a Breathless Masters Instructor and Oxygen Advantage Advanced Instructor who has delivered breathing sessions to teams at Google, Salesforce, Atlassian and Spotify.

Talk to us
We are running a small pilot with a handful of practices and we want honest feedback, including if the answer turns out to be that patients do not use it.
